Self-Catering Cottages in Dullstroom

Five private self-catering cottages on a working cattle and game farm

Highland Giants Estate is a collection of five individual self-catering cottages in the Dullstroom highlands.

Each cottage offers its own private setting, outdoor living and the freedom to experience the farm at your own pace.

The cottages differ in their setting, layout and the way they connect guests to water, landscape and outdoor living.

Together they offer one Highland Giants experience built around privacy, open space, genuine dog-friendly hospitality and authentic working-farm living.

Five Individual Cottages

Different settings, layouts and strengths, with a dedicated page for each cottage.

Private and Independent

Cottage positioning, private outdoor spaces and unobtrusive hospitality give guests room to enjoy their stay without unnecessary interruption.

Dog-Friendly Hospitality

Each cottage has its own fenced outdoor area. Fencing and suitability vary, so cottage matching considers the needs and behaviour of each dog.
Pet policy applies.

Self Catering

Every cottage is fully equipped for independent self-catering, with a kitchen, indoor fireplace, outdoor braai facilities and indoor and outdoor living spaces.

Space to settle in and explore

The five cottages are set in different parts of Highland Giants Estate, each with its own relationship to water, open grassland and highland views.

Once you have settled in, explore the farm at your own pace—walk, fish, watch birds or simply spend time outdoors.

Bald Ibis Cottage

At Bald Ibis Cottage, living beside the river shapes the stay.

The covered stoep and fenced garden open towards the water and surrounding highland landscape, making outdoor time part of everyday life.

Sleeping up to six guests, Bald Ibis gives guests space to fish, relax beside the water or simply slow down and watch the landscape change with the seasons.

Guinea Fowl Cottage

At Guinea Fowl Cottage, the river becomes part of the experience.

The covered stoep and fenced garden overlook the Swimming Hole, pools, weirs, cascades and rock shelves, inviting you to explore the river as it winds through the surrounding highland landscape.

Sleeping up to six guests, Guinea Fowl gives you space to swim, fish, walk or spend time beside the water as the river changes with the weather and seasons.

Briony Vine Cottage

At Briony Vine Cottage, indoor and outdoor living come together.

The generous open-plan interior flows onto a long covered stoep and large fenced grass garden, with broad views across the inland highland landscape.

Sleeping up to six guests, Briony Vine offers room indoors and out for guests and their dogs to settle in, spend time together and enjoy the changing light, weather and seasons.

The Farmhouse

At The Farmhouse, the character of a historic working farmhouse is part of the stay.

Built from unfired clay brick in the late 1800s, it has been thoughtfully adapted for modern self-catering while retaining its age, imperfections and straightforward country character.

Sleeping up to six guests, The Farmhouse offers simple comfort, a generous stoep, broad farm views and a large fenced garden. It was Highland Giants’ first dog-friendly cottage, making dog-friendly hospitality part of its history rather than an added feature.

Fish Eagle Cottage

At Fish Eagle Cottage, privacy and the view across Glenshanna Dam shape the stay.

Tucked away in its own setting, the covered stoep and fenced garden look across the water and surrounding Estate.

Sleeping up to six guests, Fish Eagle is Highland Giants Estate's most private cottage—a place to fish, explore the Estate or simply slow down and watch the light, weather and seasons change across the dam.
