Explore the farm: Birds
There is something new and beautiful around every turn, no matter the season.
Bird activity varies with season and time of day, rewarding those who take a slower pace and spend
time simply watching and listening.
Birdlife is a quiet but constant presence here.
From early morning calls to movement along the dams and grassland, the surroundings attract a wide
variety of resident and seasonal birds. Guests who enjoy unstructured birding, photography,
or simply listening from the verandah will find plenty to notice.
Regular sightings reflect the mix of grassland, wetland and woodland habitats.
Notable species include Southern Bald Ibis, Blue Crane and Secretarybird moving through open areas,
while birds such as Denham’s Bustard and Giant Kingfisher are occasionally seen near dams and waterways.
Smaller but equally rewarding sightings include Black-collared Barbet, Golden-tailed Woodpecker,
Cape Robin-chat, Violet-backed Starling and Lesser Double-collared Sunbird around
the cottages and natural vegetation.
